The Best Defense is Offense!

Increase your odds not your rationalizations

The Best Defense is Offense!

The first thing that came to mind after reading this article (via Mashable) is that this person is spending a lot of time trying to figure out why they didn’t hear from a potential employer after an interview – instead of focusing on pursuing new opportunities and increasing their odds.

The basic truth is that if a company is interested, they will be in touch. If they are not, chances are you won’t hear anything. While “thank you” notes and follow ups are good, spending a lot of extra time on them after the fact is wasteful.

Not getting a response from a company after working hard to get invited to and prepare for an interview is disappointing for sure. The fact is, as the article kind of states, if you don’t hear from them, they are doing something else. It is far more productive to spare yourself the introspection and rationalizations by continuing to move forward. The value of any single opportunity is reduced when the number of prospects increases.

Want to learn how to get more from your interviews in the first place and exactly what to do if you don’t get a response?
