A little background:  I’ve been a corporate headhunter for about 15 years.  I’ve always focused on supply chain management and strategic sourcing positions in manufacturing and energy.  However, over the years, I’ve developed an innovative approach for identifying opportunities and marketing candidates into companies that is universal to all types of jobs and industries.  I’ve shared my techniques and strategies with numerous friends and colleagues and they too have been successful in their searches.

The foundation is value.  The process I’ve created is based on the idea that all jobs come from someone somewhere trying to figure out how to solve a problem or pursue a goal.  From a candidate’s perspective, or from my own as a headhunter, my job is to figure out how to help.  If I can figure out how to help, I can bring value.  I can solve a problem.  Job seekers who operate from the same mindset stand to do better and go further than job seekers who are only out for themselves.

How do you do it though?  How does someone start with nothing, not even a single lead, and find jobs (even when none are listed), identify decision makers, effectively communicate, generate interview invitations and get offers?  It’s taken me years to get really good at all of the above.  It’s taken more jobs, interviews, and offers than any one candidate should see over an entire career.  Fortunately I made enough notes along the way to end up with an easy to follow narrative style book that reveals the specifics of most of what I know.  The Kindle version is out now and the hard copy will be available by the end of April.

If you’re serious about finding a new job or any job at all, I have no doubt that there is something in Modern Job Search that can make your search easier and more effective.  As a headhunter on commission, if my process didn’t work, I’d have starved a long time ago.
